Danny McShane took fifth place in today’s Ayr Roads 25 mile time trial, held on an unofficial course near Eglinton, with a time of 56:02. Euan Pope also made the top ten with a time of 56:41. The event was won by Iain Grant (Dooleys Racing) in a storming 51.59. The Glasgow Road Club’s 25 mile team record was pushed close but not broken.

Following the record breaking exploits at the Bill Moore Memorial 10 last weekend, the club’s 10 mile team record was broken AGAIN today by the same trio of Barry McGurk, Danny McShane, and John Anderson, this time on the West Ferry course, with a time of 1:06:03.

The event was won by Jim Cusick of Glasgow Couriers with a time of 20:23.

Euan Pope and Barry Crumlish both made it into the top 20 at the Scottish National Road Race Championships today, held over a tough 87 mile course at Alford, Aberdeenshire.

Both riders were in the thick of the action, pursuing the escapees who managed to hold the bunch off at over a minute. The race was eventually won by Gary Hand (Herbalife) from earlier breakaway companions David Lines (MG Maxifuel) and James McCallum (Rapha Condor).

The club’s 22 year old club 10 mile team record was sensationally broken today by Danny McShane, Barry McGurk, and John Anderson at the Bill Moore Memorial race on the Eglinton course in Ayrshire, with a time of 1:06:42.

Euan Pope put in an impressive performance against the clock to finish 3rd in the Pennyglen Hilly time trial behind Peter Murdoch (Paisley Velo) and Jim Cusick (Glasgow Couriers). Barry McGurk, a flat TT specialist, was just under a minute slower and finished an equally impressive 6th.

Club President Robert Robertson proved that he was returning to good form following his recent hiatus from the sport, coming 8th at the first event of the WOSCA Road Race Series held last night.

Ben Peacock (Paisley Velo) was victorious in tonight’s Glasgow Road Club’s Margaret Dooley Memorial 10, held in dull, murky conditions on the West Ferry course. His winning time of 20:15 was quick enough to see off the challenges from Iain Grant (Dooleys Cycles) and Keith Murray (Team Scott), both of whom also went under 21 minutes.

John Anderson took a superb 6th place in a bunch sprint finale at the May Day Gallop APR held today near Grangemouth. The race was won by Paul Gallacher of Fife Cycling 2000.

Ben Greenwood (Hope Factory Racing) edged out rival Evan Oliphant (Team Raleigh) in a sprint finish to the Kilmacolm Kermesse in Renfrewshire on Sunday, a new race on the calendar courtesy of Glasgow Road Club.
