Some GRC riders took part in the Pennyglen time trial, held over 15 miles of hilly and rolling roads in Ayrshire.

Best placed Euan Pope managed 10th place, losing almost 3 minutes to winner Alan Thompson of Sandy Wallace Cycles. Euan has come into this season a little slower than last year but will pick up better form as we enter the summer months. Paul Friel also beat the 40 minute mark.

Peter Murdoch (Paisley Velo Racing Team) took the honours in tonight’s Margaret Dooley Memorial 10, held in poor weather on the Newton Mearns course. His time of 21:05 was almost a whole minute quicker than team mate Ian Sim who took second place. Paul McLafferty (Ivy CC and son of the legendary Gus) has been making impressive improvements over the last year and he took a fine third place with a time of 22:25

The event also saw the welcome return of the Road Club’s George Cowan who was the fastest rider over the age of 60 – it’s early days but looks like the old magic is still there.

The second annual Kilmacolm Kermesse was held today in fair but chilly conditions on the rolling roads of Renfrewshire. Following his recent 4th place in the Rutland Cicle Classic, James McCallum (NFTO Racing) was strong enough to attack late on for a fine solo win.

Thanks to all the helpers today who gave up their time to put on this race. Thanks also to Andrew Black of Ellmoll Builders, Alan Hewitt of Madison, Alan Kay from Zyro, Bob Taylor and Alan Holmes the Jeweller, all of whom contributed to the prize list.

Ian Henderson of Falkirk BC kindly put together this excellent highlights video for youtube:
